USE AND REGULATION

For optimal function a minimum water height of approximately 1.5 inches is suggested. Pump may be connected with a ½ inch I.D. plastic hose or with rigid PVC (Fig.2). Capacity may be controlled by using the flow monitor system for a precise measure depending on need (Fig.1). Different brands of pumps have different flow control systems, but they are all similar.

MAINTENANCE

To ensure that you have continued employment of your magnetic driven pump, here are a few simple cleaning instructions.

1. Remove ends of plastic case (a in Fig.3 & 4).
2. Remove and wash plastic filter (b in Fig.4).
3. Remove the impeller (c in Fig.4). The impeller mechanism may have a limestone build-up preventing it from rotating. (We suggest you use a pair of needle-nose pliars to remove the impeller.)
4. Clean all grime and dirt from the impeller unit c.
5. Clean the metal shaft inside the pump.
6. For all cleaning use household vinegar & water (50% solution).
7. Rinse the entire pump with clean running water.

This cleaning exercise should take approximately 5 minutes. We recommend that the pump be cleaned at least once a month.

PUMP MANUFACTURER'S WARNINGS

  1. "Risk of electrical shock" - To reduce risk of electrical shock, connect only to a properly grounded, grounding-type receptacle.
  2. To reduce the risk of electrical shock when using a small pump with a portable self-contained fountain, the small pump should be used only with fountains of this type that are no longer than five (5) feet in any dimension.
  3. Before handling the pump in any way, turn off electrical power to any equipment immersed in water.
  4. Do not install if the electrical cord or pump is in any way damaged.
  5. Voltage level is imprinted on the pump. Make sure it corresponds to the electrical current being used.
  6. Many building codes require that a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) be installed in a branch circuit supplying fountain equipment rated above 15 volts AC. Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters are available through electrical and building supply stores, catalogues and contractors. Many new homes may already be equipped with a GFCI due to local codes.
  7. For outdoor installation, use an approved and properly grounded outdoor junction box.
  8. Do not place your finger or any other object into the pump opening while operating or when it is plugged in, since the pump impeller rotates at hight speed and will strike any object inserted into its path.
  9. Water is discharged from the pump at high pressure. Avoid looking closely into the pump when it is started since possible eye injury could occur.
